Tenerife - The Island of Contrasts

Located off the north coast of Africa, a little way to the north of the Tropic of Cancer, Tenerife is a sub-tropical paradise that offers something for everyone.

The island is dominated by the now dormant volcano "Mount Teide", which at 12,000ft is the highest mountain in Spain. To the south, the ever popular resorts of Playa de Las Americas and Los Cristianos are basked in year round sunshine, whilst the north of the island is a lush green tropical paradise of banana plantations, palm trees and flowers. Tenerife is truly a unique island of startling contrasts.

Discover Lanzarote

Created around 35 million years ago, Lanzarote is the most easterly of the seven major and six smaller Canary Islands, all of which lie in the Atlantic Ocean between 60 to 190 miles from the north western coast of Africa.

Originally the Canary Islands were only a winter sun destination, but the unique combination of warm sunshine and fantastic modern holiday developments, has firmly put Lanzarote on the holiday map 12 months of the year.

Almost one third of the island is covered by the Timanfaya National Park, which is a spectacular lava flow that was formed by a series of volcanic eruptions during the 18th and 19th Century. Volcanologists still recognise that Lanzarote is considered to be "active", although even with the best technology available to them, it still remains impossible to predict with any accuracy when the next eruptions are likely to occur.
